Rural Volunteer
The Rural Fire Service needs all types of people, with a wide range of skills to keep brigades running and communities safe. As members of the brigade you train and work together to ultimately protect your family, friends and homes. This is done through a variety of methods fire prevention, community education, hazard reduction burns and fighting fires.
Rural Fire Area Training Support Officer
Responsible for initiating, undertaking and evaluating training programs in accordance with the annual training plan for the Rural Fire Service Queensland while ensuring Registered Training Organisation (RTO) and department audit requirements are met. This role has mandatory requirements including department specific qualification i.e. our Rural Volunteer Learning and Development Framework.
AO2 - General
Provides support to frontline services and is responsible for a variety of administrative work that may include word processing, travel management, records management and general office duties. These types of positions can often be called upon to participate in out of hours emergency operations and can include deployment to other parts of the State or interstate.
AO3 - Support Officer/ Business Support Officer
Provides support to frontline services and is responsible for a variety of high level administrative work that may include research and preparation of correspondence, organisation of meetings and conferences, preparation and reconciliation of financial documentation and contribution to continuous business improvement procedures as well as general office duties. These types of positions can often be called upon to participate in out of hours emergency operations and can include deployment to other parts of the State or interstate.
AO3 - Project Support Officer
This role varies in nature depending on the work unit but primarily would be engaged to assist with key projects undertaken by the department.
AO3 - Executive Assistant
Provides support to frontline services and is primarily responsible for providing a high standard of confidential secretarial and administrative support in a senior executive environment. Responsibilities include diary management and meeting coordination, travel arrangements and organisation of conferences and workshops, development, review and implementation of new administrative procedures and the provision of procedural advice across the regions.
AO4 - Executive Support Officer
Provides a high standard of confidential executive, administrative and business support. Responsible for a variety of work including, but not limited to management of an executive appointment diary, management and prioritisation of incoming correspondence to effectively manage critical information and workflows and coordination and division of administrative operations in the divisional office. Experience with the provision of administrative support in senior executive environments is usually a prerequisite.
AO4 - Support Officer
Provides support to frontline services through the provision of support in the design, development, promotion and implementation of new initiatives. This role conducts a variety of work including, but not limited to supporting change management processes, audits of policy frameworks. Advanced skills in project management software and the Microsoft Office Suite is usually highly desirable.
AO4 - Assistant Program Officer
Provides high level administrative services to support business operations and the delivery of services to emergency services volunteers. Responsible for a variety of work including, but not limited to coordination and support of service agreement provisions for volunteer programs, preparation of correspondence and briefs and conducting research and collating information relating to volunteer operations. This role may be required to work out hours and participate in an on call roster.
AO4 - Information Rights Officer
Responsible for assisting in the determination of Right to Information and Privacy applications in accordance with the Right to Information Act, Information Privacy Act and decisions of the Information Commissioner.
AO4 - Indigenous Operational Capability Officer
Responsible for the planning, preparation, delivery and review of capability development programs, particularly in indigenous communications. Other responsibilities include, but are not limited to assisting with the coordination of area and regional capability development programs, consultation and negotiation with indigenous groups and communities in rural and remote locations as required.
AO5 - Project Officer
Provides professional, efficient and effective project management support to the project stream and is responsible for the day to day delivery of project activities including system support, reporting and project management functions. Experience in project management and/or relevant qualifications are highly desirable.
AO5 - Community Engagement Officer
Provides expert community engagement advice, support and vision by developing, supporting and where relevant, coordinating department and stakeholder engagement strategies and activities across the regions. This role may be required to work out of hours and participate in an on call roster. This role may also have some prerequisite requirements.
AO5 - Strategy and Risk Officer/Service Delivery Business Support Officer
Responsible for a variety of work that may include coordination and management of stocktakes, administration of internal policy and procedures, management of governance procedures and provision of advice to senior management. These roles can vary in nature and requirements depending on the assigned work unit.
AO5 - Senior Operational Capability Officer
Provides support to frontline services and responsible for a variety of work that may include, but is not limited to the management, evaluation and support of regionally based operational development and assessment activities. Participation in an out of hours roster arrangement is expected and experience in the delivery of training and/or relevant qualifications is highly desirable.
AO5 - Program Officer, Logistics/Program Officer
Provides logistical support to ensure the efficient, effective and appropriate delivery of equipment services. Specific departmental procurement delegation is required and they may be the requirement to participate in an out of hours on call roster and travel interstate on official business.
AO5 - Operations Support Advisor
Responsible for the provision of support and guidance to staff on human capital policy and practice, governance compliance, contribution to the design and implementation of best practices approaches and assistance in research, preparation and review of reports, as well as a variety of other tasks.
AO6 - Senior Program Officer
Responsible for a variety of tasks including, but not limited to the provision of planning, writing and development of disaster management guidelines, identification and development of relationships with key disaster management stakeholders and organisational partners and the application of research findings to the operational environment.
AO6 - Executive Officer/Liaison Officer
Manages the work program and administration of the Directorate office ensuring the effective dissemination of information, achievement of work priorities and deadlines are met.
AO6 - Senior Research Officer
Responsible for undertaking high level research and analysis on a range of issues to support the delivery of the Commissioner's strategic objectives and statutory obligations.
AO6 - Area Controller/EM Coordinator
Support the development and implementation of the SES operational service delivery plan and provide strategic advice on SES response planning arrangements and programs.
AO6 - Senior Strategy and Risk Officer
The purpose of this role is to provide advice and support to assist the development and implementation of resilience projects including data management, documentation and stakeholder engagement.
AO6 - Manager Volunteer and Frontline Support Services
Manages staff and day to day activities and business of the Volunteer and Frontline Support Services. Undertakes a variety of tasks that include, but are not limited to the development of communication for volunteers, leading projects and contributing content expertise.
AO6 - Injury Management Advisor
To provide specialist advice and support in the area of rehabilitation, injury management, medical standards and health and wellbeing for our workforce.
AO6 - Senior Information Analyst
The Senior Information Analyst manages and maintains an organisational performance system to provide data analysis and information for use in business decisions and activities. The data and reporting provided by this position ensures that outputs satisfy office standards for integrity, accuracy and timeliness based on quality principles, methodologies and compliance to relevant standards.
AO6 - Senior Doctrine Officer
The Senior Doctrine Officer is responsible for the management and facilitation of the Doctrine Management Cycle including the principles of development, consultation, review and dissemination.
AO6 - Senior Correspondence
Responsible for the quality, accuracy and timeliness of correspondence and reports emanating from the office of the Commissioner. Undertakes a variety of tasks including, but not limited to the effective and immediate liaison with the Minister's office, stakeholders and other government departments, the development and implementation of policies, protocols and procedures for department-wide implementation and researching and analysis of issues.
AO6 - Senior Advisor
Responsible for a variety of task including, but not limited to the planning, formulation, development, implementation and monitoring of systems and performance standards which establish compliance with the relevant legislation.
AO6 - Assistant Cabinet Legislation Liaison Officer
Responsible for assisting in the management of the department's Cabinet business and legislative program and the provision of strategic policy advice to the Commissioner and Minister in line with departmental and government priorities.
AO7 - Media Supervisor
Responsible for supervising and supporting a team of Senior Media Officers and Media Officers to delivery timely and quality 24/7 media and social media services on behalf of the department. This position works in conjunction with another Media Supervisor in supervising the functions of the media team and the strategic development and implementation of a state-wide communication training program for our operational workforce.
AO7 - Staff Officer
Required to liaise, negotiate and provide high level advice on corporate governance and operational issues which support the operations of the Office of the Deputy Commissioner.
AO7 - Governance Liaison Officer
Responsible for providing high level governance support to the Director, Corporate Governance Branch and also supports the effective management of the Branch in its day to day business, governance, service delivery and business improvement activities.
AO7 - Principal Analyst
Responsible for the managing the provision of analytical and business intelligence solutions that support business performance management and strategic decision making, leading projects to successfully implement and deliver initiatives.
AO7 - Manager Safety & Wellbeing
Required to lead and manage a team of specialist Safety & Wellbeing Officers in the delivery of systems of strategies and ensuring the health and wellbeing of staff and volunteers.
AO7 - Principal Advisor Culture
Responsible for the provision of high-quality and strategic advice, consultancy and support to senior executive and management on organisational culture, organisational change and workforce engagement capabilities establishing collaborative relationships with a broad range of customers, partners and stakeholders.
AO8 - Regional Manager
Required to lead and manage the development, implementation and improvement of systems, processes and operational capability within the region, focusing on operational readiness.
AO8 - Principal Policy Officer
Provides professional advice and support on strategic policy and legislation issues including, but not limited to undertaking research, liaising with stakeholders, drafting briefs, submissions and correspondence and representing agency views in external forums.
AO8 - Communications Manager
Responsible for the delivery of strategic high-level management and communication and engagement services including, but not limited to paid public advertising campaigns, executive communications targeting internal and external audiences, general communications products for the paid and volunteer workforce and communications advice.
AO8 - Departmental Liaison Officer
This role is the primary point of contact between the Office of the Minister and the department. This role is specifically responsible for the exchange and management of all information and advice between the Minister's Office and the department.
AO8 - Cabinet Legislation and Liaison Officer
Responsible for the management of the department's Cabinet business and legislative program and for providing advice on Cabinet and Parliamentary processes and procedures.
