Emergency Alert for Palm Island as at 10pm Thurs 6 Jan

An Emergency Alert has been issued by the Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council confirming that COVID-19 is now widespread on Palm Island in all suburbs. Council is advising residents to stay at home, except for essential activities like shopping and medical from now until Friday, January 14 as a safety precaution for residents and the community. Council has further advised that Rapid Antigen Tests are available from Friday 7, January from 8am to 4pm at Joyce Palmer Health Service (JPHS) and from 1pm to 3pm at Butler Bay & Rodeo Grounds. Residents are being urged not to wait for swab results – get a rapid antigen test. If sick, residents are being encouraged go to JPHS at any time. Council has also encouraged Palm Island residents to get vaccinated.
