Emergency Alert for Palm Island as at 6.30pm Mon 3 Jan

The Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council has issued an Emergency Alert for residents on Palm Island. Residents are encouraged to get tested to help find out where Coronavirus (COVID-19) is and slow the rate of spread. Currently less than 10 percent of residents have been tested for the virus. Everyone needs to get tested and it only takes 10 minutes to complete. There is no wait time for testing on Palm Island however there are wait times of up to six hours in Townsville. There is no excuse to not get tested. Get tested outside the Joyce Palmer Health Service on Tuesday 4 January between 8am and 4pm or at Butler Bay or the Rodeo Grounds from 1pm to 3pm. Residents need to get tested and wear a mask every time they leave their house.
