Emergency Alert for Palm Island as at 9.50pm Wed 5 Jan

The Palm Island Aboriginal Shire Council has issued an Emergency Alert for residents on Palm Island. There is currently community transmission of COVID-19 on Palm Island and authorities expect more residents to become infected. Everyone needs to be tested and can visit the Joyce Palmer Health Service today (6/1) to be tested. Not enough people have had tests and it is important everyone is tested before it spreads especially if you are currently sick. Testing is quick and simple. Authorities want people to stay home except for essential travel, essential shopping or medical needs, including getting vaccinated or tested. Residents are required to wear a mask when they leave their home.
