Comet – hay shed fire as at 6.30am Sat 13 April 

Queensland Fire Department (QFD) is aware of a hay shed fire burning near the Capricorn Highway, Comet. 

QFD crews attended the incident overnight and the fire is contained. It is being monitored and QFD crews will reattend across the day, as required.  

The fire continues to produce a large amount of smoke and surrounding areas, including the Capricorn Highway, may be affected over the coming hours. 

Nearby residents should close windows and doors, and keep respiratory medications close by if required. Motorists should drive with caution and to conditions.
