New Chum (Ipswich) – rubbish fire as at 12pm Fri 12 May 

Multiple Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) crews are on scene at a rubbish fire on Redbank Plains Road, New Chum.

The fire is contained but crews are working to bring the fire under control. It is generating thick black smoke in the area, including over the Cunningham Highway and in Blackstone.

Nearby residents should close their windows and doors, and those suffering from a respiratory condition should keep their medications close by.

Motorists in the area should drive with caution and to conditions.
