Yarrabah (near Cairns) – rubbish fire as at 7pm Sat 9 Sep

Fire and Rescue Service (FRS) and Rural Fire Service (RFS) crews are on scene at a rubbish fire on Workshop Rd, Yarrabah.

The fire is under control but is generating a large amount of black smoke which is affecting the Yarrabah township.

Firefighters expect to remain on scene for several hours.

Nearby residents should close their windows and doors, and those suffering from a respiratory condition should keep their medications close by.
